KIMONO⁺on made its fashion show debut at UPCYCLE FES 2026, held in Japan in summer 2026.
Through accessories and fashion items created from vintage kimono textiles, KIMONO⁺on has been exploring new ways to bring the beauty of Japanese kimono culture into contemporary everyday fashion.
For our first fashion show, we showcased styling that highlights the unique colors, patterns, and textures of kimono while bringing them into a modern fashion context.
Because each kimono provides a limited amount of fabric, many KIMONO⁺on pieces are one-of-a-kind or produced in very limited quantities.
Rather than mass-producing identical items, we embrace the individuality of each vintage kimono and propose a simple way to enjoy Japanese culture through fashion:
“Just add one.”
By adding just one kimono-inspired piece to a simple outfit, such as monochrome fashion, we believe a person's individuality can truly shine.
Through this fashion show, we hope more people will discover that kimono is not only something to wear on special occasions, but also a beautiful material and cultural heritage that can be reimagined and enjoyed in contemporary fashion.
This fashion show marked a new chapter for KIMONO⁺on.
We will continue to connect Japanese cultural heritage, sustainable upcycling, and contemporary fashion, sharing the world of KIMONO⁺on with people in Japan and around the world.
